Yellowpages.com offers online advertising. A business can place a very brief description of the business with telephone, address, email and website. This advertisement will only show in correlation to a specific city with a limit of 5 business categories. There are 4 account types: Free ($0/month*), Bronze ($35/month*), Silver ($55/month*), Gold ($79/month*) and Platinum ($129/month). *: Prices vary by Zip Code.

Google.com offers online pay-per-click advertising. A business can place a 3 line advertisement on the right hand side in association with selected keyword search results. A potential client clicks on the advertisement and is sent over from Google to that person's website, and the business is charged for that opportunity. The cost of each "Click" varies upon demand. The higher the demand, the higher the price. A click only brings traffic to a website. It does not guarantee any purchase. A problem associated with Pay-Per-Click is that some competitors could click those adds just to make that business pay out more advertisement dollars. In its defense, Google has some programming in place to reduce this problem, but it is not 100% effective.
